Thomas E. Ward, 84, of Meridian, formerly of Whitney, passed away at his home Thursday evening November 2, 2023. He was surrounded by his wife of 61 years, Elaine; daughter Tammy, and her husband Richard Norton. He was preceded in death by his son Tommy “Butch” Ward; sister, Louise; and brother, Fred. 

Thomas was born November 20th in Peoria and lived in Hill County most of his life. He served in the Army and had many jobs after his discharge. Drove a school bus, cooked some darn good BBQ, could build anything, but most of all loved fishing and his fur friend Merlin. 

Thomas leaves behind his grandchildren, Ricky (Amanda) Ward of Little Elm, Sheena (Shawn) Myles of Prosper; Elliot (Morgan) Norton of Granbury; Brandon (Jennifer) Ward of Whitney; and Zach (Kolya) Norton of Santa Barbara, CA. 

He also leaves behind brothers, Darrell (Patricia) Ward and Bobby (Ann) Ward and numerous nieces, nephews, and 9 precious great-grandchildren. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
