On February 20, 2023 Teresa Jeanne Patton went to her heavenly home. She was 74 years old. Teresa, also known as Terri, Doobie, Mama T and Maw Maw was born in Houston Texas on June 6, 1948. She grew up in Bedford, Texas and was part of the first graduating class from L.D. Bell High School. She married Harvey Howard Patton on December 22, 1974, and was married for 48 years. They spent their early years living in central Texas, then moved to St. Francisville, Louisiana before settling down in Meridian Texas in 1987. Teresa was no stranger to Meridian, she’d been visiting the property her grandparents owned there since she was a toddler and resided in the home they built.
She worked at the Methodist Church and the Bosque County Bank where she was likely the first person to greet you when you entered, and she knew your name. She found the most joy in her life being a wife, mom and grandmother. She had the gift of hospitality and wanted to make sure everyone was always taken care of. She attended church regularly her entire adult life and served wherever there was a need. She loved teaching the younger kids about Jesus.
She always looked for opportunities to share her faith in Jesus with others. Her chocolate chip cookies, chicken fried steak and sheet cake were famous among her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Juanita Gilbert.
Teresa is survived by her husband Harvey Patton of Meridian, Texas; sister/best friend, Diana McCoy Perry of Fredricksburg; her daughter Amy Grigson, husband Brooks, grandsons Miles and Lane of Plano, Texas; daughter Wendy Howard, husband Philip, grandson Ethan of Glen Rose, Texas; her cousins Brad Nickels and his wife Cristi of Glen Rose, Texas. Leann Gilbert, Erik and Michelle Ward and their daughters Natalie and Danielle of Dallas, Texas, Jason and Jeri Ward of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Lisa Gansert and husband Billy of Bonita Springs, Florida and Jenny Powell of Naples, Florida; and numerous other relatives and friends.
