Teddy Lee Wheat Harris age 85, of Joshua and formerly of Meridian, passed away on June 3, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 1 P.M., June 17, 2023 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Pastor Dettra Hicks and George Adams will officiate.
Teddy graduated from Morgan High School in 1955. While attending high school, she became a basketball star and scored 50 points in one game. She and Don spent so much time hanging out at the overhead bridge, the train conductor knew them by name. After high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Don Harris. They spent 57 wonderful years together living life to the fullest. She learned to fly airplanes and qualified to fly solo. They loved to travel. They loved ranching and raising their 3 boys. They played all types of sports. Teddy enjoyed being involved in her grandchildren's activities also. She loved entertaining friends and family and was the ultimate hostess. Her love for her family was the most important thing in her life and they will miss her dearly Carol Burnett tugged her ear at the end of each show, it was a way of telling her grandmother, "Hello, I love you." And Don Harris played this song for Teddy during his radio broadcast. Ray Price, "You're the best thing that ever happened to me."
Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Donald Keith Harris and wife, Sandra of Joshua, Gardner Kent Harris and wife, Annette, of Merkel, Jay Kelly Harris of Bedford; grandchildren, Christian, Stewart, Sam, Clint, Cela, Collin and Olivia; great-granddaughter, Trinity; brothers, Jodie Wheat and Joel Wheat and wife, Carolyn; numerous other relatives and many friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Vida Webb Wheat; sister, Margaret Eddie Maness; and husband, Don Harris.
