Stanley Dale Koopmann

Stanley Dale Koopmann age 70, of La Grange, TX, passed away on September 30, 2023 with his loving wife by his side.

A memorial visitation is to take place Thursday, October 5^th at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian, TX. The Koopmann family will be receiving visitors from 5:00-7:00pm. They will hold a private burial.

Stanley Dale Koopmann was born December 30, 1952 in Weimar, Tx to Edwin and Esther Koopmann.  He graduated from La Grange, TX in 1971 where he loved playing baseball with the La Grange Leopards. Stanley married his high school sweetheart, Jan Scharnberg, on December 2, 1972.   His hobbies included camping, bird hunting, deer hunting, and fishing. Stanley said it was not so much the hunt but just being able to get out and enjoy nature, especially when it was spent outside goofing around with his family. Stanley was creative and was often found tinkering in his workshop designing and building anything from hand-carved plaques to swings to barbecue pits. He was often teased by his family about his love for old westerns.

Stanley is remembered as a kind, hard-working family man of faith. He was quoted as saying “Jesus makes everything better.” He was also a very humble and honest man who always did the “right” thing. A somewhat quiet man, he was never confrontational and spoke more volumes with his eyes than his mouth. He was always willing to help a friend or neighbor with a task and never met a stranger.

Proceeded in death by his parents Edwin and Esther Koopmann.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Jan E. Koopmann; children, Christi [George] Mildner, Brandy Randall] Norman, Rachel [Jay] Medina, Josh [Stephanie] Koopmann; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother Ron [Darla] Rohan; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.  

Stanley was a friend to many and will be greatly missed. Joe’s Pool Hall, where the little fishies swim, may be closed but will never be forgotten.
