Sherrod Logan Fielden age 82, of Bosque County, Texas, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at his residence in Clifton.

Funeral services will be at 11 A.M., Friday, November 15, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church in Clifton, Texas. Pastor James Marcum, Rev. Clint Schofield, and Rev. Richard Creech will officiate. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery near Kopperl, Texas. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. until service time at the church on Friday, November 15, 2019. Pallbearers will be Bryan Davis, Dr. Walker Brooks, Billy Miller, Cecil Guerrero, Vern Sigler, and Billy Bible.

Sherrod Logan Fielden was born on August 9, 1937 in Lamb County, Texas, in the Yellowhouses Division of the original XIT Ranch. His parents were S.L. "Bill" Fielden and Thelma Ruth Tapp Fielden. Sherrod is a veteran of the U.S. Navy. A graduate of Littlefield High School, he continued his education at South Plains Junior College and Southwest Texas State University. The love of his young life was baseball, and he enjoyed playing for many years. He had been employed as a Social Worker by the Texas Department of Human Resources prior to his retirement in 1999.

Sherrod married Sue Moore in May of 1962 at Hart Camp, Texas. Their love grew for 57 years of marriage. They resided in Littlefield until 1968 when they moved to San Marcos, Texas. In 1984 they moved to Bosque County. They have been actively involved with their church and community throughout their marriage.

In 1995, at the age of 58, Sherrod began writing some rhymes on paper and it was not long until his poems were noticed and appreciated by many people. His poems have been published in newspapers, periodicals, journals, and books of poetry collections. Sherrod was pleased to have had many of his patriotic tributes published in military and veteran's periodicals. He was often a guest speaker, performing his poetry at Cowboy gatherings, military and patriotic programs, churches, and programs for various organizations. In June 2010, Sherrod was officially named "Poet Laureate of Bosque County, Texas", and he had been a nominee for Poet Laureate of Texas. There are three books published featuring his poetry.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 57 years, Sue Moore Fielden; sons, B.J. Fielden and wife, Carrie, John T. Fielden and wife, Cassie Wix; grandson, Zander Fielden; granddaughters, Kiera Fielden, Marissa Teape; great-grandson, Alexander Teape; brother, Sherman Fielden and wife, Mary; brother-in-law, Lee Roy Bolinger and wife; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Billie Ruth Fielden Howerton, Linda Rae Fielden Bolinger, and Evelyn Pauline "Polly" Fielden Bass.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Sherrod's name to Clifton First Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
