SFC Retired Ronald Chatfield

(SFC) United States Army retired, Ronald L. Chatfield, 73 of Clifton, Texas and former longtime resident of Meridian, passed away Friday October 3, 2014 in Waco, Texas.

Funeral services will be Tuesday October 7, 2014, at 10:00 A. M. at the Bosque County Cowboy Church located at 7023 SH# 6, Clifton, Texas with Pastor Tater Paschal officiating. Interment will follow at the Meridian Cemetery with full military honors.

A visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Monday, October 6, 2014 at Lawson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Randy Hancock, Joshwa Chatfield, Dustin Chatfield, Matthew Chatfield, Daniel Gibson, and D.J. Segar.

(SFC) U. S. Army retired, Ronald Chatfield was born October, 14, 1940 in Franklin Furnace, Ohio to Joseph and Rosie King Chatfield. He served with the U. S. Army and retired after 20 years of service. Ronald received the Bronze Star Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Army Commendation Medal w/1st Oak Leaf Cluster; National Defense Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars; Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Bronze 5 Loops.

On March 17, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Krueger in Meridian. The couple lived in Meridian for many years before moving to Clifton a short time ago. He was a member of the Bosque County Cowboy Church.


Mr. Chatfield is survived by his wife: Mary Ann Krueger Chatfield of Clifton; sons, Brent Lee Chatfield and wife, Gale, of Gatesville, Mark Arnold Chatfield and wife, Lisa, of China Spring, Steven Harvey Chatfield of Boerne, Richard Norton, for whom they thought of as a son, of Meridian; grandchildren, Matthew August Chatfield of Buda, Megan Chatfield Gibson of New Caney, D.J. Segar of Gatesville, Dustin Ryan Chatfield of Boerne, Joshwa Dalton Chatfield of Valley Mills; great-grandchildren, Preston Segar of Gatesville, Peyton Segar of Gatesville, Naomi Gibson of New Caney; half sisters: Phyllis Steelesmith and husband, Jim of Ohio, and Barbara Filkins and husband, Mike of Ohio. A number of other relatives and many friends.
