Sandra Anne Hooks

Sandra Anne Hooks age 83, of Meridian, Texas, passed peacefully into the Kingdom of Heaven at home and made the transition to be with her Lord and Savior on January 21, 2024.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 27, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Meridian, Texas.  

Sandra Anne Hooks was born on October 20, 1940 in Seattle, Washington to George and Mary Aubert.   Sandra met and married the love of her life in 1979.  Their adventures together took them throughout the United States but, mostly frequented the western states of Colorado, Idaho, and Montana with a memorable foray into Alaska.   Still, she came home to Texas and as a talented painter, most of her work focused on the natural beauty of her adopted state.

She will be remembered for a warm and friendly smile, the willingness to engage in conversation with anyone, friend or stranger.  Sandra retained that child-like curiosity to learn new things, to meet different people, and to experience novel adventures.  Her greatest joy, however, came from the loving relationship with her husband.  They drew strength from one another and were hero and heroine in each other’s eyes.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 44 years, Thomas Hooks; sister Mary Lindhjem and husband, David; sister Maggi Kennedy; brother George Aubert Jr; daughter Kathleen Kubow and husband, Peter; daughter Kelly Hansen; daughter Sherry Gruver; daughter Louise Hendrick and husband, Alan; son David Hewitt and wife, Tracy; son Darrin Hall and wife, Nicole; son Eric Hooks and wife, Sabrina; 30 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her mother and father; paternal and maternal grandparents; daughter Terri Lee Gleason; granddaughter Joy Hendrick; grandson Benjamin Hendrick; son-in-law Richard Hansen.
