Rodney Young

Rodney Alan Young, age 59, of Iredell, passed away early Saturday morning, May 31, 2014, at his residence in Iredell after a long illness.

Memorial funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 2, 2014, in the Iredell First United Methodist Church, Iredell, Texas, with Rev. Cecile Adams and Rev. Cynthia Lee officiating. A viewing was held at Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas, Monday,June 2, from 9:00 A. M. until 11:30 A. M. A memorial service is planned at a later date in Edgerton, Wisconsin.

Rodney was born March 16, 1955, in Stoughton, Wisconsin. He was a son of the late Franklin N. and Melba Frances Schroeder Young. He was a long time resident of Wisconsin until moving to Texas. He worked on the Frank Weaver Ranch near Valley Mills for many years. Rodney had lived in Iredell for the past 15 years. Before his illness, he worked as a fiber optic technician. He was a member of the Congregational Church.

Rodney will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a hard working man and will also be remembered for his kindness to all he came in contact with.

He is survived by his wife, Carla, of Iredell; children, Heath Young, of Beloit, Wis., Charles Young, of Clinton, Wis., Thomas Young and wife, Amber, of Ft. Atkinson, Wis., and Maria Young, of Darlington, Wis.; grandchildren, Michael and Nathan Young; brothers, Michael Young and wife, Linda, Thomas Young and wife, Debra, Robert M. Young and wife, Colleen and Howard Young and wife, Shelly, all of Edgerton, Wisconsin; sisters, Susan Bendler and Judy Dominguez and husband, Florencio; his beloved dog and friend, "BooBoo"; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Kyle Young, and a brother, Richard Young.
