Richard Petty Sr

Richard Lee Petty Sr., 58, of Cranfills Gap, Texas passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 in a Waco, Texas hospital.

A Memorial funeral service was held Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian, Texas with David Jones and Charlie Jones officiating.

Richard was born October 10, 1956, in Yuba City, California. He moved to Bosque County at a young age where he was raised and educated. On January 23, 1984, he was united in marriage to Leslie Meyer in Meridian. Richard had lived near Cranfills Gap for several years and was a automotive mechanic.

Mr. Petty is survived by his wife: Leslie Petty, of Cranfills Gap, children: Tanya McFatridge and husband, David, of Cranfills Gap, Shawna Ratliff and husband, John of Cranfills Gap, John Ivers III, of Cranfills Gap, Richard Petty Jr., of Cranfills Gap, Alanna Youngblood, and husband, David of Lufkin, Chris Petty of Cranfills Gap; 11 grandchildren; sister: Debbie Caughron of Whitney; brother: Russell Petty of Morgan; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Russell Petty and Hattie Lucille Ratliff Petty; a daughter, Tina Petty; sisters, Earlene Hinds, Buttercup Ratliff and Laverne Williams.
