Rheann Patton

Rheann Patton, age 59 of Bonham and formerly of Meridian, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 in Bailey, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at the Meridian First Baptist Church on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Colin Errington officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M., Friday, January 19, 2018 at Lawson Funeral Home. Rheann will be laid to rest in the Meridian Cemetery.

Rheann left us to be with her Heavenly Father after a courageous battle with cancer. Rheann’s childhood was spent in Plano, Texas surrounded by a loving family and where she attended school and graduated. She then moved to Denton where she graduated from North Texas University. She taught elementary and Jr High school in Sealy, TX and Meridian, TX for a total of 22 years. She moved to Bonham, TX in January 2015 and was employed with the Bonham Police Department where she worked until her illness progressed. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leonard. Rheann didn’t have biological children but enjoyed and treated her niece and nephews as her own. She would have an “Aunte Rhea Boot Camp” every summer to take the children to Vacation Bible school and have activites planned with them for the week. The children always looked forward to that time with their Aunte Rhea. She also loved each and every student she taught at school. She would receive letters from them long after leaving her class and some even when they were in college. She was passionate about teaching and helping children. Rheann had the most generous and loving heart and touched many lives with her presence, and will forever be in our hearts

Left behind to cherish her memories are her father, Don Robert "Bob" Patton of Meridian; brother, Doug Patton and wife, Christine, of McKinney; sister, Micki Cannon and husband, Joey, of Meridian; nephews, Nick Powell and wife, Ella, of Denton, Jeff Patton of McKinney; niece, Ashley Patton of College Station; boyfriend, Gary Gentry of Bailey; numerous other relatives and numerous friends.

Preceded in death by her mother, Dolores Rae Dunn Patton; and nephew, Brooks Powell.
