Olin Alfred Hardwick, Jr (O.A.) of Meridian, passed from this life on September 16, 2021, at the age of 90. He was born on April 2, 1931 at the Hardwick farm north of Meridian, the only child of Alfred Hardwick and Josie Reesing Hardwick. He was proceeded in death by his parents and step-daughter Heather Foster Hall. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Harriet Shotola Hardwick, daughter Kelly Klug, son Scott Hardwick and wife Tracy, step-children: Mark Foster and wife Brenda, Laurie Foster, son-in-law Brad Hall, grandchildren: Blakeley Anglin and husband Wyatt, Taryn Hardwick, Ryan, Travis and Shannon Klug, Tyler and Delaney Foster, Erin Cooper and husband Landon, Weston Hall, and great granddaughter: Chandler Leigh Cooper.
He grew up on his family farm and had many pleasant recollections of helping work the land and care for the livestock. After completing public school in Meridian he graduated from Clifton Junior College, North Texas State College, and the University of Texas at Austin Graduate School where he received an MBA in Statistics and Economics.
After college, he served his country as an officer in the U.S. Navy, aboard ship in the Western Pacific and later at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi. After three years of active duty, he continued serving in the active Naval Reserve for twelve years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
For 40 years he was a corporate planner for several companies in the DFW area. He was a planning innovator, breaking ground developing new planning procedures. In 2000, he and Harriet retired to their country home in Meridian.
He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Meridian where he taught Sunday School and served on various church committees. He also served as President of the Bosque County Historical Commission and the Meridian Library Association.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 10 A.M. at the Meridian Cemetery. Pastor Daniel Hawkins and Pastor Yohan Baek will officiate. Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Meridian. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 6 P.M. until 7 P.M., at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian.
