Nancy Strange McClure

Nancy Strange McClure, age 82, of Iredell, went to be with her Lord and Savior unexpectedly on July 24, 2019 in Iredell, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the Iredell First Baptist Church with Rev. Don Caldwell and Rev. Neil Wade officiating. Burial will be in the Mitchell Cemetery in Iredell. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M., Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian.  Pallbearers will be Michael Phillips, Brad Phillips, Patrick Proffitt, Mickey Burns, Troy Fouts, and Gary Claunch.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Lonnie Hanshew, Lonnie Gatewood, and Gene Blakley.

Nancy Strange was born on September 13, 1936 in Iredell, Texas to Tom Claude and Aileen Maryann Appleby Strange.  After graduating from Iredell High School in 1955, she married Marvin "Mack" McClure.  The couple was blessed with a son, Dickie Mack McClure, the following year.

Nancy worked in the Bosque County tax office before becoming the Bosque County Auditor.  After leaving the courthouse, she worked at Meridian ISD, Iredell State Bank, and in later years she owned and operated Country Corner Convenience Store and Gas station in Iredell.  She was a cherished member of the Iredell First Baptist Church and served as church secretary for many years.  Nancy has been a favorite Sunday school teacher of many generations of children at First Baptist Church in Iredell and First Baptist Church in Meridian.

Nancy loved spending time with her grandsons and great-grandchildren.  She thought of all the youth of Iredell as her children and grandchildren.  Her front porch was a frequent gathering place.  All who came by were welcomed and enjoyed visits filled with stories of days gone by and lots of good advice.  Her favorite joke was that she had gone far in life because in later years she lived across the street from where she was born.

Left to cherish her memories are her grandsons, Chad McClure and wife, Ashley, of Iredell, Dickie Mack McClure, Jr., of Iredell; great-grandchildren, Claudia McClure, Hannah McClure, Ashton McClure, Dylan McClure, Wyatt McClure, Lacey McClure, and Justin McClure; sister, Rebecca Strange of Lake Whitney; brother-in-law, Eugene McClure and wife, Kay, of Maryland; a number of other relatives and many friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Tom Claude and Aileen Maryann Appleby Strange; husband, Marvin "Mack" McClure; and son, Dickie McClure, Sr.

Memorials in memory of Nancy may be made to the Iredell First Baptist Church, Iredell, Texas.
