Marion Bruce McCombs age 83, of Walnut Springs, passed away on June 6, 2022 at his residence.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday June 11, 2022 at Walnut Springs Baptist Church. Pastor TJ Joyner will be officiating.
Bruce was born in a house just off Main Street, Grapevine, Texas, to Lucille Bayless McCombs and C.L McCombs. He married his high school sweetheart Sara Bussey on June 29, 1962. After graduating Grapevine High School, he went on to gain a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and post-graduate hours in Business Administration from Texas Christian University. He served his city of Southlake, Texas as charter member of several committees, as commissioner on the Southlake Charter Commission, as charter member of the Southlake Historic Association, and as councilman for two terms. On February 20, 2007, he was awarded the key to the city of Southlake on "Bruce McCombs Day" declared by the Mayor. His Christian service began when as a boy he accepted Christ as his savior. He was ordained a deacon in First Baptist Church, Grapevine, on October 1, 1961 and served actively in that capacity in three churches including Walnut Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, sports (especially watching high school football), domino games with friends, his family and storytelling. His late evenings were often spent finding a secluded place on his property to watch for wildlife or sitting outside with Sara to watch the spectacular stars of Bosque County.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of almost 60 years, Sara; sons, David McCombs of Walnut Springs, Orlon of San Fransico; sister, Sherry Wilson and husband, Gary, of Godley; brother, Kerry McCombs and wife, Nancy, of Euless; niece, Jordan Cleveland; nephew, Ryan McCombs, numerous cousins and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, C.L. and Nettie Lucille Bayless McCombs.
Arrangements were entrusted to Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas 254-435-2792.
