Maleta Pallmeyer

Maleta Pallmeyer, 85, of Amarillo and former long time resident of Meridian, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 in Amarillo. .

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M., Sunday, August 24, at the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian with Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the Kopperl Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Still,Scott Welling, Wayne Kieschnick, Ben Beasley, William Pallmeyer, and Robert Kieschnick.

Maleta was born Nov. 11, 1928, near El Dorado, Oklahoma. She attended high school in Chillicothe, Texas, and graduated from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls in 1950. She worked as a teacher in Electra and as a home demonstration agent in Benjamin. In 1954, she married William C. "Bill" Pallmeyer and the couple moved to Matador, where they would live until 1979 when Bill retired from the Texas Agricultural Extension Service. They moved to Meridian where Maleta was active in the First United Methodist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving once as president of the VFW's Ladies Auxillary. Following her husband's death in 2007, Maleta moved to Amarillo.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula Pallmeyer Welling and husband, Ron, of Amarillo; sons, Will Pallmeyer and wife, Deb Kieschnick Pallmeyer of China Spring, and Karl Pallmeyer and wife, Lisa Stanton Pallmeyer, of Austin; other relatives include grandchildren, Susan Mullin and Lisa Phillips of Amarillo, Scott and Jamie Welling of Amarillo, Amy Pallmeyer of China Spring, William Dewayne Pallmeyer of China Spring, Angie Pallmeyer and Ben Beasley of Amarillo, and great-granddaughter, Deslyn Beasley of Amarillo. She is also survived by a brother, John Garland Henson and his wife, Pat, of Grand Junction, Colo.

The family requests that memorials in memory of Maleta be made to a charity of choice.
