Larry Byron Ward was born on March 3, 1954 to Lillian and Ronald Ward in Waco, Texas. He spent his public school years in Waco, moving to California in his late teens. He spent most of his career working for the State of California, concluding his career as an accountant at San Quentin Prison in San Quentin, California. When he retired, he moved back to Texas. He left behind many friends and coworkers and his California family--his sister and brother-in-law, Sal and Barbara Orosco, nieces and nephews and special friend and former wife, Terry Ward, who predeceased him, and her family. His friends and coworkers remember his hearty laugh and gentle teasing. In Texas, his greatest joy was being with his family. He lived briefly in San Antonio where he volunteered at Habitat for Humanity. He decided to move back to Waco and lived there until his death on May 9, 2018.
Survivors include his brother and his wife, Ronnie and Tena Ward, Meridian, Texas and their children Byron Ward and his wife, Nancy, Arlington, Texas; Marnie and her husband, Kevin Mallen, New York City; his sister, Barbara Orosco of El Dorado Hills, California and her children, Lisa Ryan, Sacramento, California; Lori and Rob Cima, El Dorado Hills, California; David and Mindy Orosco, Carmichael, California. He left eleven great nieces and nephews, and four great-great-nephews.
Because of his great love for Bud, a black lab who adored him, memorial gifts to any animal shelter of choice would be appreciated.
A memorial funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Meridian, intersection of SH#22 and FM #1991. Pastor Herb Lammert will officiated.
