Kenneth Ray Worley, Sr.

Kenneth Ray Worley, Sr., age 77 of Kopperl, passed away Friday evening, December 28, 2018 in a local nursing facility.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, in the Kimball Cemetery on SH#174 near Kopperl.  A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Sunday in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. David Thomas will officiate.

Serving as his pallbearers are Don Worley, George Boswell, Duane Worley, John Boswell, Keith Thomas, Nathan Worley, Steve Osborne and Kirk Worley.  His honorary pallbearers are his domino buddies and Mike Hight.

Ray was born January 3, 1941, in Whitney, Texas, a son of the late T. H. "Code" Worley and Tressie Baugus Worley.  He was raised and educated in Kopperl. On May 12, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Beth Whitt in Cleburne, Texas. He worked as a butcher for 34 years for Buddie's and David's Supermarkets.  He worked for Bosque County Prect. #1 for 5 years before being elected as County Commissioner, serving for 4 years and retiring in 2005.  Ray served on the Kopperl I.S.D. School Board for several years.  He was a member of the Kopperl First Baptist Church and the Kopperl Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his children, Ken Worley, Jr. of Kopperl and Pam Morris and husband, Russell, of Kopperl; granddaughters,Brittnie St.Peter and husband Tom of Lakeside Village and Kallie Younger and husband Cole, of Waxahachie; great-grandchildren, Rustin Code St. Peter and Andie Beth St. Peter; sister, June Osborne and husband, Pat, of Brazos Point; brothers, George Worley and wife, Eileen, of Blum and Tolbert Worley and wife, Claudia, of Kopperl; number of other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beth; parents, Code and Tressie Worley, and a sister, Paula Boswell.
