Kenneth Allen Davis, 78, of Iredell, passed away early Saturday morning, March 21, 2015, at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 23, 2015, in the Iredell First Baptist Church with Rev. Don Caldwell and Rev. G. W. McDowell officiating. Burial will be in the Mitchell Cemetery in Iredell.
Pallbearers Ethan Thomas, Cassie Hodge, Michaela Gephart, Shane Hodge, Brittany Jean Davis and Jonathan Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Caty Dearing, Alex Rojas, Brittany E. Davis; Carrie Davis, Destiny Davis and Rebeckah Davis.
Kenneth was born August 2, 1936, in Iredell, Texas, where he was raised and educated. He was a graduate of Baylor University with a B.S. degree. He later graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a Master of Education degree.
Kenneth taught school in Ft. Worth and at Howard Payne University. He moved to Mansfield where he taught and was a school administrator. It was there that he was honored to have a school named after him, Kenneth Davis Elementary.
Kenneth was a member and Deacon at Iredell First Baptist Church, member of Kiwanis Club, former member of Iredell City Council, Texas State Teachers Association and a lifetime member of the P.T.A.
Kenneth always enjoyed attending sporting events, especially where his children and grandchildren participated.
On May 31, 1958, Kenneth was united in marriage to Jean Dunlap in Iredell.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Iredell; children, Ken Davis and wife, Kelly, of Iredell, Kelly Hodge and husband, Greg, of Perryton, Kristy Gephart and husband, Mike, of Iredell and Kurt Davis and wife, Lucy, of Mansfield;
14 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Laws of Dallas; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parent, Tyn and Margaret Davis and a brother, Jimmy Davis.
