Judith Anne Holt McNeill left her earthly home to our Lord Jesus Christ on June 4, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on November 6, 1940, to Dr. Russell Daniel Holt and Mildred Elizabeth Wilson Holt, she was delivered by her father, who was the only doctor in the small community of Meridian, Texas. She graduated from Meridian High School and went on to attend the finishing school of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Always there for her family, she left Stephens to return to Meridian to care for her terminally ill father. After his passing she attended Tarleton State College where she met the love of her life, Mike Lynn McNeill. They were happily married for 61 years prior to his passing on March 22, 2023.
To honor her father’s legacy in the medical field, she attended Baylor University School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, Texas, while her husband Mike attended Texas A&M University. While working there she had her first son, Michael. They later moved to Dallas, Texas where she had her second son, Mark, and also worked as a pediatric nurse. Judy was a wonderful mother who put aside nursing to invest in her children’s lives full time. Judy was an excellent example of a Christian mom who served in countless ways at the churches they attended in Duncanville, Shreveport, and Stephenville. Even in her later years she volunteered at Grace Place at First Baptist Church of Stephenville, living out her belief that work for the Lord was a lifelong joy. Judy had a rich family heritage that she traced back to the American Revolution. She was a member of the Teha Lanna Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Stephenville, Texas. Judy served as Chapter Treasurer, Historian, and Chair of the Americanism and Constitution Weeks. Judy and her husband, Mike traveled world-wide including South America, Asia, and Australia. She enjoyed bus trips across the US and returned from touring the architecture of New Orleans just a few days before her passing.
Judy was predeceased by her husband, Mike Lynn McNeill; Parents, Russell and Mildred; and Sister, Beth Gardner. She leaves behind Son, Michael Andrew McNeill and wife, Donna, of Myersville, Maryland; and Son, Mark Alan McNeill and wife, Gayle, of Bangs, Texas. Judy was lovingly involved in the lives of her 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren along with countless friends who felt her warmth and generosity.
She was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. A friend to many, Judy was a cherished member of the community in Stephenville, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength.
