On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, Jimmy Ted Heath, loving husband and father of two sons, passed away at age 71.
Jim was born on May 18, 1947 in Merkel, Texas to Ted and Martha (Speegle) Heath. His family moved to Meridian when he was a toddler. He had a happy childhood living with his parents and three siblings in Meridian, Texas. Jim graduated from Meridian High School in 1965 and found his niche as an entrepreneur. He established a landscaping business in Carrollton, Texas and directed its growth assisting many homeowners, home builders, and commercial builders beautify their surroundings. Jim recently sold a large part of his business and was enjoying life at a slower pace. In October of 1974, he married Judy Clendennen. They raised two sons, Stephen and TJ.
Jim had a passion for the outdoors and spent many hours in the past fishing and hunting. He also loved helping others when he saw an opportunity. Jim became a granddad six years ago and took quickly to his new role in life of being “PawPaw“ to his granddaughter Elin. Jim had a big smile each time you saw him in these recent years telling of his and Elin’s most recent adventure! As the old saying goes, Elin had her PawPaw wrapped around her little finger!
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Ted, and his mother, Martha and a sister, Janice Heath Dugan. He is survived by his wife, Judy, his two sons, Steven Butler and his wife, Caron, of Forney, and TJ Heath of McKinney; his sister, Joyce and husband, Gerald McDowell, of Clifton, and his brother,John Heath and wife, Carol, of Frisco, granddaughter, Elin Butler, and grandson, Oliver Dedecker; also several cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation was from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 21st, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Meridian with the service to follow at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Valley Mills Cemetery following the service. Donations may be sent to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice in his memory. Serving as pallbearers were Scott Dugan, Brentley Melson, Hunter Dugan, Matthew Clendennen, David Clendennen, Brian Heath, Marcus Sechrest, Jason Bowers, Matthew Dugan and Heath Dugan.
