Jesse Jones

February 6, 1925 — August 22, 2016

Jesse Jones, 91, of Walnut Springs, left this earthly life peacefully, in the early morning hours of August 22, 2016, after a long illness.

No arrangements have been made at this time.

Jesse James Jones was born on February 6, 1925, in Waco, Texas to Jesse and Maude Della McRay Jones. He grew up and was educated in the central Texas area, graduating from Clifton High School.

He showed his love of Country by serving in the United States Army Air Corps as a tail gunner in a B-25 as well as a B-24 Liberator in the Pacific Theater in WWII. After returning from the service, he moved to Walnut Springs where he met the love of his life, Thelma Ruth Caddell. They were united in marriage on May 14, 1947 and made their home in Walnut Springs. After retiring from the aircraft industry, he enjoyed many things including working in his Sharp All Shop, mowing, helping friends and family in any way he could, and attending live music shows with his wife. Jesse will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Maude Jones; and his wife of 63 years, Thelma Ruth Jones.

Survivors include his daughter, Thelma Elizabeth "Liz" Summers and husband, Tony, of Walnut Springs; grandchildren, Michael Summers and wife, Debra, of Glen Rose, Cheri Buccino and husband, Rob, of Glen Rose, Adrian Summers of Walnut Springs; great-grandchildren, Hope Summers, Stephen Buccino, Matthew Buccino, Mark Summers; several other relatives and many friends.
