Janette Burreson, age 80, of Laguna Park, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 in a Clifton care facility.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Meridian First Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Creech and Rev. Colin Errington officiating. Burial will be at the Meridian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Pallbearers will be Shawn Holmes, Billy J. Wimberly, Dusty Holmes, Chris Holmes, Derrick Holmes, Ronnie Wimberly, Scotty Campbell, and Jimmy Gilliss.
Janette was born on February 12, 1937 in Meridian, Texas to Melvin Virgil and Frances Virginia Elliott Gann. She was raised in Meridian, and graduated from Meridian High School. After graduation she married Gene Burreson on April 17, 1953 in Meridian. Gene and Janette moved frequently following Gene's job. Janette was able to see many places throughout her lifetime while Gene was in the United States Air Force. After Gene got out of the service they moved to Odessa. It was in Odessa that Janette went to Aladin Beauty School. She graduated with the highest score out of the class. Gene purchased a beauty salon for Janette that she was able to operate for a number of years. She was very active in the Eastern Star and also the Home Extension while they lived in Eastland, Texas. Gene and Janette moved to Clifton in 2000. She was a very faithful and active member of Meridian First Baptist Church for a number of years. Often you would find Gene and Janette traveling in their RV. Whether it be to Colorado, New Mexico, or anywhere else they ventured, they were able to go to many places and make wonderful memories with each other.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her husband, Gene Burreson of Laguna Park; children, Barbara Holmes and husband, Shawn, of Whitney, Beverly Burreson of Seminole, Texas, Teree Teague of Seminole, Texas; grandchildren, Chris Holmes and wife, Denise, of Whitney, Dusty Holmes of Whitney, Derrick Holmes of Whitney; great-grandchildren, Apreada Holmes, Topher Holmes, Lane Holmes, Brennen Zaragoza, Tallie BreeAnn Saladiner; sister, JoAnn Wimberly of Clifton; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Frances Elliott Gann; daughter, Debbie Patrick; grandson, Talley Patrick; granddaughter, Heather Schuessler; and son-in-law, Melvin Patrick.
