James Walling, 79, of Meridian, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 22, 2014, at his residence,
Graveside services were held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, April 24, 2014, in the Morgan Cemetery, Morgan, Texas. Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating.
Mr. Walling was born September 16, 1934, in Clovis, New Mexico. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1951 and served until 1955. He had a rank of DC3 and served on the USS Corry. After his tour of duty, he was united in marriage to Martha Black in Carrituck, North Carolina. He moved to the Ft. Worth area where he worked as a Master Plumber and eventually owned his own plumbing business. Upon retirement, he moved to his farm and ranch near Meridian. He was a member of the Meridian First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Ft. Worth Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.
He is survived by his wife, Martha, of Meridian; children, William Walling and wife, Brenda, of Mesquite, Christine Michael and husband, Tim, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Janet Erm and husband, Donald, of Austin, Connie Kendall and husband Scott, of Grand Prairie and Deborah Lynch and husband, Steve, of Whitney; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Darling of Grand Prairie; number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
