Jim Vance age 78, of Iredell, passed away on February 10, 2023 in Meridian, Texas.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 1 P.M. at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Pastor Chris Irwin will officiate.
Jim was born on February 7, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas to Jean and Gladys Nachlinger Vance. Jim loved to hunt and fish with his brother, Billy and brother-in-law, Gary Artzt and their children. He loved playing dominoes and horseshoes. He and his wife had a small cabin at Lake Whitney which they loved to go to on the weekends. They later bought 14 1/2 acres between Meridian and Iredell. They moved there in 2018. Jim loved working on their land, which they called a ranch. They cleared brush, painted and bought goats. Jim worked at a Ford dealer before his retirement in Athens, Texas. The dealer changed hands three times. He first worked for John Glatt Ford then McGillivray Ford and then Brinson Ford in Athens as a parts manager. His first job as a parts manager for Ford was in Hillsboro at Cole Ford. He will be truly missed.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Sharon Vance; son, Jimmy Vance, Jr., and wife, Gabrielle; grandchildren, Dylan and wife, Rachael, Ashtyn and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Lawson and Parker; brother, Michael Vance; sister-in-law, Wanda; numerous precious nieces and nephews; and Rusty Porter whom he considered as a nephew.
