Inez Palacios Johnson

With great sadness the family of Inez (Janet) Palacios Johnson announce her death in Houston TX on August 7th 2024 at the age of 89. Inez, a Roman Catholic, was born in Victoria, TX on January 18th 1935 to Nazario Palacios and Cipriana Sifuentes Palacios. One of eight siblings, Janet was the fourth of seven sisters, who graduated from Patty Welder High School in Victoria. She moved to Houston after graduation and worked for a financial company where she met her future husband, Carlton Lee Johnson. They married May 21st 1965 and started their own company in 1977 in Shreveport LA called Troy Acceptance, Inc. , which was named after her father in law. Janet and Carl enjoyed their home in lovely Lake Bistineau, LA until 1993 when they sold the company and retired in Meridian TX.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Dulie Martinez, Mary Villareal, Madlyn Carbone & Joseph Palacios. She is survived by her husband, sisters, Beatrice Aguilar, Emily Giries, Jilma Palacios, many nieces and nephews, Godson Randy Martinez, and grandchildren Christina Johnson Andren (AJ) and Kevin Johnson (Jessica) .

Inez will be remembered for her love of nature and all animals great and small. She took pride in beautiful gardening and was an excellent cook. She also sewed beautifully and made many garments for herself, her sisters and nieces. She was also an accomplished guitarist, having learned how to play from her father and owned as many as five guitars.

The Johnson family will be present to receive friends Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77079. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Cyril of Alexandria Catholic Church, 10503 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77042. Inez will be laid to rest at a later date in Center, Texas under the direction of Lawson Funeral Home Meridian, Texas.
