Gene Burreson age 89, of Clifton, Texas passed away in Waco, Texas on September 4, 2024.
Funeral services will take place at 10 A.M., Monday, September 9, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Meridian, Texas. Rev. John Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in the Meridian Cemetery following the service. Family will receive visitors on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Lawson Funeral Home from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M.
Gene Burreson was born on February 12, 1935 in Cranfills Gap, Texas to Ervin and Lora Samuelson Burreson. Gene was raised and educated throughout Bosque County. He married Ola Janette Gann on April 17, 1953 in Meridian, Texas and shortly after enlisted in the United States Air Force. After serving his country he moved to Odessa, Texas and worked for El Paso Products. El Paso Products took him many places throughout his life and even for a short trip overseas. Upon returning home from overseas he went back to Odessa before being transferred to Eastland, Texas. He remained in Eastland, Texas working for El Paso Products until his retirement. To fulfill his promise to his dear wife he made Bosque County his home once again in 2000. Gene and Janette enjoyed living out their retirement years in Bosque County, Texas. Often times you could find Gene playing dominos and enjoying a good story or two with his friends. Gene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Meridian and will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Beverly Burreson and Teree Teague, Barbara Holmes and husband, Shawn; grandchildren, Chris Holmes, Dusty Holmes, Derrick Holmes; great-grandchildren, Apreada, Topher, Brennen, Tallie Breann and Braxton; siblings, Janice Campbell, Sue Dowlearn, Linda Gilliss and husband, Jim; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Lora Samuelson Burreson; and wife, Ola Janette Gann Burreson; daughter Debbie and husband Melvin Patrick and grandchildren Tally and Heather.
Arrangements were entrusted to Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas 254-435-2792.
