Robert Franklin (Frank) Shipman, age 90, of Glen Rose and former long time resident of Walnut Springs, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 at a Glen Rose nursing facility.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 P. M., Sunday, December 22, at the Glenview Church of Christ, Hwy. 67, in Glen Rose, Texas with Minister Ed Harmon officiating. Interment was in the Nancy Smith Cemetery, near Glen Rose. Pallbearers were Chase Shipman, Manny Guerrero, Steven Thompson, Dave Hopson, Ricky Shipman, and Steve Allen.

The family respectfully asks that in lieu of the usual remembrances, memorials be made to the Lake Pointe Academy, 1921 Acton Highway, Granbury, Texas, 76048.

Mr. Shipman was born July 4, 1923, a son of Daniel Silas Shipman and Willie Ice Shipman, in Glen Rose. He was raised in and around Glen Rose and attended schools in Glen Rose. On February 23, 1957 he married Rita Jo Hopson. After marriage they moved to Walnut Springs where they remained for many years, moving back to Glen Rose after their health began to decline and to be closer to medical facilities. Mr. Shipman was a rancher and was a member of the Cottonwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Jo Shipman, of Glen Rose; his children, Robert Dean Shipman and wife, Becci, of Glen Rose, and Gary Lynn Shipman and wife, Melody, of Tolar; grandchildren, Brittany Rush, Tiffany Guerrero, Chase Shipman, Cody Mitchell, Tony Watson, Jr., Zoee Watson; great-grandchildren, Kylie Rush and Shaylee Guerrero; brother, William Arvil Shipman of Glen Rose; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Silas Shipman and Willie Ice Shipman; an infant daughter; sisters, Juanita Thompson and Bessy Riggs.
