Edward Arnold Maddox Drake passed away in his own bed in Morgan, Texas with family by his side on April 13, 2022. He went quickly as God had mercy. All might loving God took him out of his crippled body and Jesus was with him. He passed away Wednesday, from injuries sustained from a car accident in Morgan, on July 31, 2021. He endured 4 brain surgeries and survived Covid-19 during its ravenous pandemic. He was strong but he endured much pain. He is now at peace with Christ. No more pain, no medical treatments. I am sure it was a beautiful reunion when he met his Nanny in Heaven.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Monday, April 18, 2022 at the Morgan First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Morgan Cemetery.
Edward was born to Melissa Drake on New Years Eve of 1994 at Goodall Witcher Hospital in Clifton. He was delivered by Dr. Bruce Edward Scaff. Edward could do anything he put his mind to. Edward played basketball, baseball and football. Also he had a love for cars, family, Harry Potter movies and Jesus. He attended school in Morgan, Kopperl and Meridian from PreK until the 8th grade. He loved his dog as much as himself. Red and him are running in Heaven. Edward was of the Baptist faith, but also attended the Morgan Pentecostal Church as a child. Edward was baptized in Jesus name at Hillcrest Hospital on August 3, 2021. Melissa and Kimberly Drake took care of Edward by themselves around the clock for a number of months.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his girlfriend, Sarah and son, Landon; mother, Melissa Drake and little sister, Selena De Los Santos both of Morgan; sister, Meghan Bryan of Stephenville; brother, Shannon Maddox Drake and wife, Rue, of Covington; grandparents, Shannon and Janet Drake of Morgan; aunt and uncle, Mary Linda and Leon Conner of Morgan; numerous other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his dog, Red; great-grandparents, Mattie and Woodrow Drake, Mae and B.F. Moore.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. There is no more pain in Heaven.
Edward spoke his words at 3 days old while his mother was holding him he said "Love You" and cooed. Edward made A and A/B honor roll all through school and in 2005 he had one of the highest STAR tests. He was extremely smart in Math and Science. When he was 5 years old a family member came over and he jumped right on a bike and rode it. He had never ridden a bike before this time. He had the most beautiful gray/blue eyes. He will be greatly missed. He was always the center of attention.
Arrangements were entrusted to Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas 254-435-2792.
