Edra Reinke

Edra Lee Reinke, age 96, of Granbury and a former long time resident of Meridian, passed away Wednesday evening, September 23, 2015, in a Ft. Worth hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, September 27, 2015, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Creech and Rev. Joan Iker officiating. Burial will be in the Mitchell Cemetery in Iredell. Serving as pallbearers are her great-grandsons, Christopher Reinke, Michael Reinke, Carter Whitfield, and William Reinke; and her family friends, John Hastings, Kenneth Schrank, Roger Bushee, Mike Dooley, and Brian Avirett.

Edra was born November 25, 1918, in Iredell, Texas. She was a daughter of John and Nellie Mae Davis. She was a graduate of Iredell High School in 1936. Edra was also a graduate of the Harris School of Nursing in Fort Worth. On February 21, 1941, she was united in marriage to Ernest W. Reinke, Sr. in Iredell. After their marriage, the couple lived in Temple until 1968, moving to Meridian to their farm between Meridian and Spring Creek.

Edra was baptized and confirmed in the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap. While in Temple, she was a member of the First Lutheran Church. Edra and her husband were one of the founders and charter members of Faith Lutheran Church in Meridian. She had spent the last 15 years of her life in an independent living facility in Granbury.

She is survived by her son, Ernest W. Reinke, Jr. and wife, Shirley, of Glen Rose; grandchildren, Gregory Reinke and wife, Wendy, of Mansfield, Stephen Reinke and wife, Dana, of Granbury, Anna Whitfield and husband, Stephen, of Aledo; eight great-grandchildren that were the Joy of Her Life, Christopher, Sarah, Michael, Megan, Carter, Catherine, William and Lillie; number of other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and John Davis, Sr.; brother, John Davis, Jr.; husband, Ernest W. Reinke, Sr. and a daughter, Karen Sue Reinke.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
