Doris J. (Howell) McDowell

Doris McDowell passed into her heavenly home on December 5, 2021 at the age of 88.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M., Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Spring Creek Baptist Church. Her husband Rev. GW McDowell will officiate. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul McDowell, JW McDowell, Nathan Cross, Keith Moore, Brandon Moore, Chad McDowell, Jerry McDowell, and David Calles.

She was a beloved wife, mother and “Nanny”. Doris spent most of her life as a homemaker and was a great support to her husband during his Pastoral Ministry. She retired as a school Cafeteria Cook from Fort Worth ISD. Throughout her life she mentored several young women. Doris enjoyed cooking, playing games, painting, puzzles and crafts. All who knew her considered her to be a sweet, kind, and loving woman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Reta Howell; son, Gerrel McDowell; and sister, Peggy McDowell.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, GW McDowell; daughter, Janie Cross; son, James McDowell and wife Nancy; daughter, Barbara Moore and husband Dennis, 9 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends whom she loved.
