Donna Lynn Golden McMurray, 55, of Meridian, Texas went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday December 18, 2024. She gave her life to Christ at a young age at Latham Springs Church Camp July 31, 1980. Donna was later baptized into the faith on September 21, 1980 at the First Baptist Church of Meridian, Texas.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday December 23, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. Spring Creek Cemetery with Brother Richard Creech. Visitation to be held at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian, Texas at 11:30 A.M. prior to the service. Pallbearers for the service will be Kevin Collins, Glenn Knott, Devin Gonzales, Christian Boyle, Stephen Barnett, Wesley Avance, Mark Anderson, Rodney Townley, and honorary pallbearers Tim Black and Trump Kornegay.
Donna was born to Robert Spearman Golden and Altha Mae Meaders Golden Smith on October 18, 1969 at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Donna was raised by her Mother and Stepfather, Gene Smith, in Meridian, Texas. She graduated high school in May of 1988 from Meridian High School and went on to continue her education at Texas Tech before attending a business school in Lubbock, Texas. After attending school, Donna began working in the bursar office at Texas Tech. Donna married Hayden Barnett McMurray on October 9, 2010 in an intimate ceremony at the home of Lucy McMurray with reception at Larry and Neysa McMurray’s home in Meridian, Texas. Hayden and Donna lived in College Station, Texas with Hayden’s daughters Marli and Meagan. Donna showed an amazing capacity to love and care for others in everything she did, but especially in the love she showed to her step daughters Marli and Meagan, and later to her grandchildren Robert and Rose Boyle. During her time in Waco, Texas, Donna worked with The Royal Sovereign and Imperial Court of the Central Texas Empire, a non-profit that raises money for AIDS Research. Donna also spent her free time as a stage manager for productions like the Sound of Music while in Waco. Donna worked at the Waco Tribune as an editor and for Blue Cross and Blue Shield in the escalated claims department before moving to College Station with Hayden.
While in College Station Donna held positions in the financial aide office at Texas A&M and for Superior Health Plans as a liaison for health providers across 14 counties. However, Donna’s true love was spending time with family and friends. Hayden and Donna found every opportunity to dance. Hayden and Donna spent countless days riding motorcycles traveling various parts of the United States, making unforgettable memories. Donna and Hayden continued their adventures hunting, fishing and feeding the various animals at the “Blue House”, before building their forever home at the family ranch in Meridian, Texas. Donna poured her blood, sweat, tears and love into making a house a home for her and Hayden and her fox family. Hayden and Donna loved, laughed, and danced their way through life and she will be missed and loved by all her knew her.
Donna is preceded in death by her Mother Altha Mae Golden Smith, her Father Robert Spearman Golden, Her Step Father Gene Smith, her brothers Bobby Golden, and Pat Golden and her first husband John Creech. Donna is survived by her husband Hayden McMurray, stepdaughters Marli Boyle and husband Christian Boyle, and Meagan McMurray and fiancé Devin Gonzales, grandchildren Robert and Rose Boyle, her brother Michael and sister-in-law Maryann Golden, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Twalla Thomas and Toby Thomas, brother-in-law Preston McMurray, mother-in-law and father-in-law Neysa McMurray and Larry McMurray, many nieces and nephews, and countless other loved ones.
