Dennis Troy Mitchell, Architect and resident of Arlington Texas died of the Corona Virus on January 22, twenty one days shy of his 72nd birthday at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sherelyn; children Ryan and wife Kelli, Megan and husband Jesse Teeters; grandchildren Troy and Austin, Alexis and Sawyer respectively; brother Gary, nieces Amy Prewitt and Kelly O’Malley. Preceded in death by his mother Juanita Michetti.
Dennis was born in Dallas on February 12, 1949. He graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington and was part of the only UTA football team that won a national championship. During his vast architectural career he was registered in 43 states. There are untold numbers of buildings Dennis designed. On July 25th, 1970 he married his childhood sweetheart.
Dennis was a devoted father and husband. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an avid boater and deeply loved his boating communities. His last boat “The Leading Lady” provided some of his happiest memories. Dennis’ kindness created many cherished lifelong friendships. He brought smiles to countless faces and laughter to all he met. He will be deeply missed by all the lives he touched.
A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, January 25th at 1pm. Due to the current pandemic we will hold the service virtually through Zoom. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Kopperl United Methodist Church, 1856e FM Rd, Kopperl, TX 76652.
