Darlene Janell McGraw

Darlene Janell Johnson McGraw passed away on August 27, 2024, at her home in Meridian, Texas. Born July 10, 1942, in Bosque County, Janell spent most of her life in Johnson County, where she raised her family. Janell was a beloved Mother, Grammy, and Aunt, who could light up any room she walked into with her beautiful smile. She will be deeply missed but is so happy to be with her Lord and Savior. 

Preceding Janell in death was her father and mother, HL and Minty Ruth Johnson, her Aunt Margaret “Bobby” Mooney; and her sister and brother-in-law, Jerene and Thomas “Rod” Brasfield. 

Janell is survived by a daughter, Dede Stepp; a son, Jon Helms and wife, Fay; grandchildren Marshall Stepp (Mitza), Michael Stepp (Ashleigh); Makenna Stepp; and Nathan Stepp (Alena). She is also survived by a sister, Shirley Price (Gary); a brother, Rodney Johnson (Amy); nieces Sherry Price, Katie Brasfield, Beth Brasfield (Brook); Allie Johnson; nephews Danny Price and Ronny Price (Jina); some of her greatest joys, her numerous great grandchildren; her ex-husband and friend, Marlie “Butch” Helms; and bonus family friend, April Stepp.

There will be a private service for the family at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian, Texas.
