Dan J. Evans

Dan J. Evans age 86, of Clifton, passed away on October 18, 2022 in Waco, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Bro. Richard Creech will officiate. Burial will follow at the Meridian Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Daniel Jerome Evans was born in Comanche and graduated high school from Friendship High School. He played college basketball at Navarro Junior College and finished his degree at Texas Tech University. After college, Dan married Nancy Parsons and had two children, Joe and Julie. Dan became a science teacher and coach. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, reading westerns, cooking the day’s catch out on the river and spending time with family and friends. Dan had a quick wit, enjoyed being around people, and was always willing to help someone in need. After retiring from teaching and coaching, Dan spent his afternoons at the coffee shop with a revolving door of good friends. We are so thankful Dan is celebrating with Jesus now, but he will be deeply missed.

Dan is survived by his wife, Patricia Evans; brothers and sister Peggy Evans of Boerney, Tx, Jack Evans of Atlanta, Georgia, Nancy Hicks of Stephenville, Tx, Blake Evans of Rising Star, Tx
Rick Evans of Kennedale, Tx. Also survived by his son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, Joe, Teresa, and Emily Evans; his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, Julie, Shane, and Jackson Spann; and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Alfred Bly and Phuriba Evans; brother Duane Evans, brother Rusty Dwight Evans, and sister Wilma Evans Worsham.
