Cherida Mae Gilbreath, age 72, of Walnut Springs, passed from this world, and entered the Kingdom of Heaven surrounded by family, Wednesday afternoon, May 25, 2016, after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 28, 2016, in the Walnut Springs Baptist Church, 152 4th Street. Rev. T. J. Joyner and Brady Dempsey officiating. Burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Walnut Springs.
Visitation from 6 to 8 P.M., Friday, May 27, also at Walnut Springs Baptist Church.
Pallbearers are Kevin Bean, Jordan Duncan, Garry Baker, Randy Baker, Kirk Dempsey, Ryan Morrow, Joey Speer, and Eddy Speer. Honorary Pallbearers are Al Disanto, Garland Morrison, Meldon Thomas, Bruce McCombs, Jarrell Sutherland, Tommy Speer, Mike Robinson. Pallbearers in Memoriam are Lonnie Halbert and Tommy Vick.
Cherida was born to Holland and Dorothy Neace Boney on August 17, 1943 in Breckenridge, Texas. She grew up in Fort Worth, where she attended Diamond Hill schools. In 1968 she married the love of her life, her farming partner, and favorite traveling companion, Charles E. Gilbreath. Together with their three children, Max, Rhonda, and Leo, they moved to their farm in Bosque County in 1975. Cherida enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's school functions, traveling the world with her husband, teaching Vacation Bible School and Sunday School at Walnut Springs Baptist Church, having coffee and visiting with her friends, watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren color pictures for her on the front patio, and playing with her special dog, Little Bear. As someone who always loved caring for people she received her Associates Degree of Nursing and enjoyed her years working at the Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Gilbreath of Walnut Springs; children, Max Bench and wife, Lisa, of Walnut Springs, Rhonda Maher of Waco, Leo Gilbreath and wife, Eden, of Granbury; grandchildren, Brandon Maher and wife, Julie, of Meridian, Brandi Maher of Stephenville, Bailee Bench of Waco, Katelyn Bench of Stephenville, Adam Johnson of Walnut Springs, Aaron Johnson of Denton, Winter Gilbreath of Granbury, Wilder Gilbreath of Granbury; great-grandchildren, Callie Maher and Dylan Johnson; sisters, Carol Conner and husband, Wayne of Burleson, Elaine Slaughter of Moran, Angela Davis and husband, Bill, of Cisco; and many friends and family who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Holland and Dorothy Boney; and a niece, Dovie Paramore.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Krystal Allen, LVN with Lutheran Sunset Ministries Hospice, as well as Michelle, Cindy, Lori, and Donna.
