Carolyn Sue Lee was born on March 22, 1941, though her birth certificate read the 20th in Ada, Oklahoma to Leroy and Alma Fletcher Barber.
She passed on Friday, January 12th 2024, at her home in Meridian, Texas at the ripe age of 82. Carolyn was married to her best friend, Glenn Lee, on March 6th, 1976, in Keithville, Louisiana, by Jeff David Lee (Glenn’s father). They made their home in Meridian in 1987. She worked at Clifton Molding for 2 years. She held a position on the Meridian City Council for several years, and Mayor Pro-Temp for a brief period of time. Her heart found her working and retiring from Bosque County Senior Services and Transit where she met the best of people and made the best friends that she could have ever asked for. She worked many jobs throughout her life, but her most prized titles were “Granny” and ”Aunt Sue”.
Carolyn gave her life to the Lord for the first time at the age of 8 and was baptized again later in life. She was a faithful member of the Bosque County Cowboy Church. She attended different schools including ones in Phoenix, Arizona, Ada and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Leroy, sister, Jo Ann Wood, brother, Ron Barber, her great-niece, Hadley Wood, and her life long friend, Donna McCollum.
She is survived by her loving husband, Glenn Lee, along with her son Richard Barber (Theresa) of Shillington, PA, Cheryl Thomas (Daughter-in-law) of Buford, GA, and grandchildren, Austin Barber of Buford, GA, Jeremy Shumard, Shillington, PA, Jennifer Shumard, West Reading, PA, Jillian Czyzewski, Pottstown, PA, Jordan Shumard, Wanette, Oklahoma, and Jody Shumard, Catasauqua, PA, 12 great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, Eden Rose McCarthy, Amelia Gomez, Jimmy Johnson, and Travis Norris. Nephews- David Barber (Dee) of Payson, AZ, Terry Wood (Dianne) of Tulsa, OK, Mark Wood (Brenda) of Jenks, OK, Scott Wood (Pam) of Catoosa, OK, Kevin Wood (Fran) of Collinsville, OK. Nieces- Kathi Barber of Phoenix, AZ, and Mendy Norris of Meridian, Texas. She had 4 great-nephews and 7 great nieces.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 18th, 2024 from 5 pm until 7 pm at Lawson Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 19th, 2024 at the Bosque County Cowboy Church in Meridian, Texas with Pastor Tator Paschal officiating. Burial will follow at Meridian Cemetery.
