Betty Almy

Betty Lou Almy, age 82, of Meridian, passed away Sunday evening, April 20, 2014, at her residence near Meridian.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 25, 2014, in the Meridian First United Methodist Church. Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating. Graveside services and burial were held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, in the Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, Colleyville, Texas. Rev. David Fergeson officiating.

Pallbearers were Mike Almy, Robert Feagan, Chuck Abdouch, Olin Hardwick, Roger Brown and Rocky Burtchell. Honorary pallbearer was Bill Bowers.

The family requests that memorials be made to B.A.R.K., P.O. Box 264, Clifton, Texas, 76634.

Betty was born May 21, 1931, in Union City, Tennessee. She moved as a young child to Borger, Texas, where she was raised and finished high school. Betty
attended Frank Phillips Junior College for Journalism. She moved to Meridian in 1999 where she was an active and faithful member of the Meridian First United Methodist Church.

She was a past president of the Easter Seal Society of Ft. Worth and was a former member of the Oakcrest Woman's Club in Hurst.
Betty was a volunteer for the Meridian Library and helped in its organization. She was also a member of the Red Hatters and was active in Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels, B.A.R.K. Betty was blessed to have had two wonderful marriages. First to Stanley Williams and later to Bill Almy, both deceased.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra Williams of Meridian, Annette Wheeler of Red River, New Mexico, Dora Abdouch, Mike Almy, Margee Almy and Doug Almy; grandchildren, Robert Feagan, Kendra Wheeler, Cassady Abdouch, Alexis Almy, Brie Almy and Luke Almy; sisters, Carol Bowers of Arlington, Judy Brown of Rowlett; number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
