Bette Gene Davis Strange, age 91 of Round Rock, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
Bette was born September 26, 1932 in Tennyson, Texas, to Urshulia Marion Foreman and George Davis. Bette grew up in Walnut Springs where she graduated high school. She had many fond memories of her childhood in Walnut Springs and loved telling stories about growing up in a small town.
On March 3, 1951, she united in marriage to Kenneth B. Strange in Walnut Springs, Texas. They had five children and built a wonderful life together. Kenneth’s job as a civil engineer took them all over Texas - from Belton and Temple, to Houston, then to Austin and Smithville. Bette worked for Kenneth’s engineering company, EMA (Engineering & Management Associates) and helped run the company. In later years, they enjoyed camping and pulling their RV to the Texas coast each summer. In retirement they moved back to their childhood home in the heart of Bosque County where they had met many decades before. The two were married for 63 years. They lived in Meridian until Kenneth’s death in 2014.
Bette was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing card games with her grandchildren. She also had a marvelous sense of humor.
Bette is survived by her children: Jon Strange and wife Sue, of Katy; Bridget Holland and Doug Trainer, of Salado; Kelly Torrez and husband David, of Temple; David Strange and wife DeeAnna of Conroe; and son-in-laws Conover Harris Able Jr., of Houston and Ron Holland of Georgetown; Grandchildren: Trey Able, Corie Green, Victoria Strange, Elizabeth Perry, Julie Gray, Maggie Payne, Samantha Atchison, Jenny Pearlman, David Torrez, Alex Torrez and Conley Strange; Great-grandchildren; Connor Able, Addisyn Able, Griffin Green, Austin Green, Charlotte Green, Elijah Perry, Ephram Perry, Ezra Perry, Hobbs Gray, Cooper Gray, Harper Payne, Hadley Payne, Madelyn Atchison, Eleanor Atchison, Aurora Atchison, and Morgan Henn; and nieces, nephews and many friends.
