Bennie Lee (Bubba) Wied, a cherished figure in his community and a passionate cowboy, was born on October 6, 1947, in Houston, Texas, raised in Humble, Texas. He embarked on a journey that not only led him to become a skilled crane operator with Local 450 but also to immerse himself in the loving world of rodeo. Bubba's kindness and generosity knew no bounds. He was truly one of a kind, someone who never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Friends and acquaintances often marveled at his easy smile and the way he would wave enthusiastically from his truck window, spreading joy wherever he went and always the jokester. His heart was particularly fond of children, whom he treated as if they were his own, and his love for family was boundless. Each memory of watching him rodeo or train his beloved horses remains a precious glimpse into his passionate and spirited life.
Bubba’s community involvement was a testament to his caring nature. He eagerly participated in events like the National Championship Barbeque Cookoff, reflecting his love for good food and camaraderie. You could find him at the sale barn or out working cattle or goats with his faithful dog Maddie by his side, he would enjoy quiet moments at home watching his favorite westerns or the cowboy channel.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his sister Nona Kay Hart and brother-in-law Dennis, his sister Melinda "Mindy" Turner and brother-in-law Dickie, along with his dear nephews Wes Hart and Dustin Turner. His nurturing spirit carried on through his niece Hailey Sparks and her husband Ronnie, as well as great-niece and great-nephews Shelbie Lara and her husband Shannon, Hagan and River Sparkes, great-great niece Rayni Lara and great-great nephew Rankin Lara. He is also lovingly remembered by his lifelong friends Leroy Delk, Bubba Delk, and Deann Hamilton, all of whom were fortunate to have shared in his journey.
