Barry Bailey, Sr

Barry Leigh Bailey, Sr., age 65, of Richmond, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at a hospital in Sugarland, Texas.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian with Rev. Richard Creech officiating. Burial in the Morgan Cemetery. His mother, Virgie Bailey's funeral was held at the same time and place.

Pallbearers were Kevin Bailey, Bradley Bailey Jr., Leigh Bailey, III, Leigh Bailey Taylor, Chris Hoppe and Robert Barnum.

Barry was born June 7, 1948, in Waco, Texas. He was a son of the late George T. and Virgie Cole Bailey. He moved has a young child to Morgan where he was raised. Barry worked in the construction industry as a bricklayer.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Bailey, of Richmond; children, Barry Leigh Bailey, Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Meridian, Brad Bailey and wife, Lynn, of Rockdale; step-children, Mealissa Hoppe and husband, Chris, of Richmond; and Robert Barnum of Richmond; 5 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren; half-brother, Gary Bailey of Boyd; half-sister, Lynn Bailey Tyree of Boyd; number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George T. and Virgie Cole Bailey; a sister, Elizabeth Janice Mata, and a grandson, Justin Bailey.
