Archer Murphy, age 67, of Marlin, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his residence in Marlin.

Funeral services will be 10 A.M., Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Christian Life Church in Robinson, Texas, 3015 N. Robinson Drive, 76076, with Bro. Ron Johnson, Bro. Phil Murphy, Bro. Barry Rankin, and Dale Murphy officiating. Burial will be at the Morgan Cemetery in Morgan. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Monday, February 27, 2017 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Murphy, Dusty Murphy, Cody Murphy, Todd Murphy, Josh Hardin, Brandon Rankin, Dale Murphy, and Clint Murphy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jaret Murphy, Kyle Murphy, Drew Murphy, Jordan Murphy, and Tanner Murphy.

Archer Murphy was born on April 13, 1949 to Wesley Eugene and Teddy Lea Archer Murphy. He was raised in Morgan, and graduated from Morgan High School in 1967. After high school he went to work for Bell Helicopter for 1 year before going to work for General Tire. When he left General Tire he started his own construction company called Murphy and Sons Construction which he owned and operated for numerous years. He was an excellent cabinet maker. He married Margie Simmons on February 3, 1978 in Waco, Texas. After their marriage they moved to Marlin in 1979. Archer's calling in life was to pastor at smaller churches that were either just getting started or that were not financially stable. Once he was able to get the churches stable and on their feet he would leave and go to another church that needed him. Archer was a pastor to churches in Marlin, Clifton, Gatesville, Pagosa Springs, Colorado, Homer, Alaska, and Las Vegas, New Mexico. He was the pastor at New Life Tabernacle in Marlin for 28 years. Archer and Margie went wherever the Lord was calling them at the time. In his little free time Archer loved spending time with all of his grandchildren. Every one of his grandchildren were the love of his life. He will be missed by all.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Margie Murphy of Marlin; sons, Scott Murphy and wife, Jill, of Temple, Dusty Murphy and wife, Christy, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, Jason Murphy and wife, Lezlee, of Katy; daughter, Tonya Haveron and husband, Aaron, of Marlin; grandchildren, Maggie Murphy, Cody Murphy, Brooke Scott, Tanner Murphy, Miranda Murphy, Macy Murphy, Stephanie Murphy, Taylor Bibb, Jaret Murphy, Tori Bibb, Drew Murphy, Kyle Murphy, Jordan Murphy; siblings, Phil Murphy and wife, Sherry, of Meridian, Dale Murphy and wife, Tasha, of Colorado, Paula Rankin and husband, Rev. Barry Rankin, of Wodden, Texas, LaDonna Nelson and husband, Jimmy, of China Springs; Alaskan Sister, Kathy Haley and husband, John, of Sterling, Alaska; mother, Teddy Lea Murphy of Meridian; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his father, Wesley Eugene Murphy; maternal grandparents, Fred and Jessie Archer; paternal grandparents, John Wesley and Martha Alice Murphy; sister-in-law, Barbara Murphy; brother-in-law, Andrew Fleming; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Ollie Simmons.
