Alesia JoAnne Williams

October 26, 1951 — December 21, 2024

Grand Prairie, Texas

Joanne Alsup Williams (age 73), of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away on December 21, 2024. She was born on October 26, 1951 in Clifton, Texas and moved to Grand Prairie in 1956.

Joanne was a member of the first graduating class of South Grand Prairie High School, where she proudly cheered on the varsity squad. After high school, her academic journey continued as she earned Cobalt certification in college. Joanne went on to have a successful career with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), where she worked as a System Analyst and wrote computer programming at a time when women were few in the field. She was a trailblazer who fought against the male patriarchy in a male dominated field, often being called in the middle of the night to fix computer code—a testament to her expertise, resilience, and dedication to her work.

Joanne was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, as well as old movies, where she found joy in classic films. She also loved collecting gemstones, finding beauty and meaning in the colors and textures of nature’s treasures. Another of her favorite pastimes was playing computer games, a passion she carried throughout her life.

Joanne is survived by her son, Ryan Faulkner, her daughter, Rachel Williams, and her daughter’s father, Steve Williams. She is also survived by her sister, Doretha (Dotsy) White, her sister-in-law, Margaret Alsup, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and cousins. Joanne also leaves behind her cherished granddogs Bear and Jaxson, and grandcats Izzy and Obi, who brought her much joy.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Emma Lorene Alsup, her father, David (Buckles) Alsup, older brother, William (Bill) Alsup and brother-in-law, William (David) White Sr..

Joanne will be laid to rest in Morgan, Texas next to her family.
