On March 3, 2023 Julie Placial Kelly passed to be with our Lord Jesus. Born to Charles and Evangeline Placial on October 7, 1954 in St Helena, California, she grew up in San Bernardino, California where she was active in various Seventh-Day Adventist youth groups, including Pathfinders and choir. She graduated from Loma Linda Academy in 1972 and Loma Linda University School of Physical Therapy with a Bachelors of Science in 1976. After graduation, Julie was a Physical Therapist for St Elizabeth’s Hospital. In 1979 she married Jim Kelly who was in the Air Force. Until her death, they were the love of each other lives. After marriage their first assignment was in the Philippines where she showed her care for others by volunteering and caring for disabled Pilipino children in rural villages. This is also where Julie became an accomplished scuba diver and loved to water ski. In addition, she proved her athletic skills by being a top player on the squadron volleyball and softball teams. In later years she was named Volunteer of the Year for the Rivers Elementary School at Altus AFB. Moving in the military ignited her love for travel, which would see her visit the Orient, Caribbean and Panama, Europe and everywhere between South Africa and Russia. Most of all, she enjoyed being a loving sister, great friend, wife, aunt, mother and grandmother. A highlight for her was being able to visit and hold her newest grandchild, Evie, 5-days prior to Julie’s departure. She is proceeded in death by her sister Cheryl, her mother Evangeline, and her son Ryan. She is survived by her husband Jim, father Charles, sister Lori, brother Chuck, daughter Lindsay, son Brendan, grandchildren Tristan, Ethan, Riley, Declan, and Evie and many nephews and nieces. No one had a bigger heart than Julie. Even in her battle with cancer, she was more concerned with others than herself. Though in later years she was physically unable to attend church, she was devoted to studying her Bible. Visitation will be March 17, 12 PM at Lawsons Funeral Home in Meridian, Julie’s funeral will follow at 2 PM. There will be a reception at the Canyons Community Center.
